While Allen's numbers dipped from his prolific 2023 campaign with the Chargers, where he hauled in 108 receptions for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns, he still proved to be a threat in Chicago.  He recorded 70 catches for 744 yards and seven touchdowns despite facing challenges with the Bears' struggling offense and rookie quarterback Caleb Williams at the helm.

**Red Zone Dominance Continues**


Allen’s performance wasn't just about numbers; he remained a clutch player, leading the Bears in touchdowns and scoring all seven of them in the red zone.  He finished as the team’s second-leading receiver.

## College Football RedZone: Could It Be Coming Soon?

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell hinted at the possibility of a dedicated College Football RedZone channel during an appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter.

"It’ll continue to be produced right here in this building," said Goodell from the NFL Network broadcast studio in L.A., when asked about the future of NFL RedZone. "It will be the NFL RedZone. I don’t think fans will see any difference to that."

However, with ESPN recently acquiring the rights to the RedZone name, Goodell acknowledged the potential for its use in other sports. 

"Obviously, in the context of that, though, ESPN purchased the RedZone name, and they will be able to utilize that for other sports, college football and other things, and I think that could be an exciting thing for our fans also to see a RedZone, maybe in college football or other sports. That’s something that they now own and have the ability to do that," Goodell explained.

**A College Football Fan's Dream?**

The prospect of a College Football RedZone channel has generated significant excitement among fans. With more college football teams than the NFL, such a channel could provide continuous coverage from 12 p.m. ET to 12 a.m. ET, featuring multiple hosts and keeping viewers updated on all the action across the country.

**NFL Network Sold to ESPN in Major Deal**

On Tuesday evening, the NFL announced a landmark deal with ESPN, selling the network and other media assets, including NFL RedZone and NFL Fantasy, in exchange for 10 percent equity in ESPN.  Despite the sale, Goodell emphasized that the NFL will continue to own, operate and produce NFL RedZone.


“Since its launch in 2003, NFL Network has provided millions of fans unprecedented access to the sport they love,” said Goodell in a statement. “Whether it was debuting Thursday Night Football, televising the Combine, or telling incredible football stories through original shows and breaking news, NFL Network has delivered. With just one month until the NFL regular season kicks off, the Green Bay Packers' cornerback room has experienced a minor setback. Nate Hobbs underwent knee surgery described by sources as "minor," effectively sidelining him for approximately three weeks. 

Despite this, Hobbs is expected to be ready in time for the Packers' season opener against the defending NFC North champion Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.  The surgery is believed to be preventative, addressing a potential issue that could have been managed throughout the season. The Packers opted for a cautious approach, prioritizing Hobbs' long-term health over immediate playing time.

Hobbs missed Green Bay's last two practices, including Family Night, where general manager Brian Gutekunst shed light on the severity of the injury. "We won’t see him tonight, he’s gonna be working through some things over the next couple of weeks," Gutekunst stated at the annual open practice.

This likely means Hobbs will sit out all preseason games. Although not a guaranteed starter, his absence could impact valuable joint practices with the Colts and Seahawks.

During those appearances, he maintained an average PFF coverage grade of 61.7, just above average.


**Hobbs: A Promising Addition Despite Early Mishaps**

Hobbs signed with Green Bay on a four-year, $48 million contract in March. He has quickly made waves with his aggressive and assertive playing style during training camp.

While his intensity has drawn praise from coaches, it has also resulted in some disciplinary actions.  He was cautioned for a hard hit on Dontayvion Wicks in a non-padded practice and again for a low tackle on MarShawn Lloyd during a session where players were instructed not to go to ground. 

Despite these hiccups, Gutekunst highlighted Hobbs' versatility and physicality at Family Night. “He has all the aggressiveness and physicality we were looking for when we brought him in here,” he stated.

He’s one of our best players, in terms of Malik."

"And I think he's made strides from year one to year two in a lot of areas. And I'm very proud of how he's approached really the whole offseason and then into training camp. But I do think that the relationship he has with Russ has been impactful.”

The success of this budding connection could translate to a fruitful season for both Wilson and Nabers.  The presence of Wilson under center opens up opportunities for downfield passing, benefiting not only Nabers but also veterans like Darius Slayton. Jeremy McNichols continues to impress with his versatility and all-around contributions. His reliability in pass protection makes him a valuable asset for the team.

**Wide Receiver Poses Exciting Possibilities:** 

Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel form a formidable 1-2 punch, potentially ranking among the NFL's best receiver duos. Noah Brown consistently performs well in his role. Jaylin Lane, a rookie from Virginia Tech, has been making waves during camp.  The Commanders remain optimistic about Luke McCaffrey’s potential for a breakout year. Martin has been impressive as a pass rusher during camp, while Wise continues to excel. Javontae Jean-Baptiste edges out Jalyn Holmes due to his youth, length, and athleticism for the final spot on the roster. Holmes may still find a place on the team.

Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw have dominated throughout training camp.  Kinlaw’s signing, previously met with some skepticism, is now looking like a shrewd move by General Manager Adam Peters.  Kinlaw's size and powerful hands create a formidable presence alongside Payne. The duo has the potential to surpass even the expectations placed upon Payne and Jonathan Allen in previous seasons. Washington remains confident in Jer'Zhan Newton’s potential for a breakout year, while Eddie Goldman secures the final spot over Sheldon Day due to his effectiveness as a run-stuffer.

**Linebacker Unit Solidly Established:**



Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu lead the linebacker corps, complemented by rising star Jordan Magee. Magee has impressed both Wagner and several Washington coaches. Nick Bellore is dedicated solely to special teams duties, while Kain Medrano showcases his potential with flashes of brilliance. His size and speed are particularly noticeable, potentially allowing him to play safety as well.  Medrano's contributions secure him a spot on the 53-man roster.

**Cornerback Room Impresses During Training Camp:**


Marshon Lattimore returns healthy, ready to reward Washington's faith in acquiring him through trade. Mike Sainristil has emerged as a standout player, earning potential MVP recognition so far. Trey Amos solidifies his place as a rookie with promising performances. The presence of Jonathan Jones and Noah Igbinoghene on the bench provides significant depth for the team. Undrafted rookie Car'Lin Vigers has also impressed during camp but appears destined for the practice squad.

## Dolphins Fullback Ingold Briefly Scares Team After Training Camp Injury

**Miami -** A scare shook the Miami Dolphins practice field Sunday as fullback Alec Ingold left many teammates and observers concerned after going down during a drill. 

Ingold was motionless on the field following the play, prompting immediate action from his colleagues and coaches. The situation sparked worry as several players dropped to their knees in prayer while medical trainers rushed to Ingold's side.  

Despite initial fears, Ingold eventually got back to his feet and walked off the field under his own power. However, a team spokesperson later confirmed that the 29-year-old has entered the NFL's concussion protocol as a precaution. 


### A Vital Piece on Offense

Ingold's impact extends far beyond his statistics, which include 25 rushing yards, 320 receiving yards, and three touchdowns in three seasons with Miami.  He's been an essential part of the Dolphins' offensive line, providing crucial blocking support in both running and passing plays for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. With no other fullbacks on the roster, Ingold's absence would be a significant blow to the team.

Ingold signed with the Dolphins as a free agent in 2022 after spending several seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders. He earned a Pro Bowl nod following his first season in Miami and subsequently signed an extension with the team in 2023.
