**Chargers Secure Young Star's Future with Record Deal**

Rashawn Slater, the Los Angeles Chargers' standout offensive tackle, has signed a blockbuster four-year, $114 million contract extension. This deal makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history by average annual value at $28.5 million per year. 

The news comes after the Chargers held off on extending Slater since last offseason, despite other top tackles from the 2021 draft class securing lucrative deals.  Detroit Lions' Penei Sewell signed a four-year, $112 million contract with $85 million guaranteed, and Minnesota Vikings' Christian Darrisaw inked a four-year, $104 million deal with $67 million guaranteed.


**Dominant Performance Propels Slater to Record Deal**

Slater, the 13th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has started all 52 of his career appearances at left tackle, protecting Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert's blind side. In 2024, he started 16 games, including playoff contests, contributing to the team’s franchise-record low eight turnovers, which tied for the second-fewest in a single season in NFL history.

Slater's exceptional performance earned him numerous accolades. As a rookie in 2021, he started all 16 games at left tackle and was named second-team All-Pro by The Associated Press. He also became the first rookie tackle to be named an all-star since 2012, selected as the starting left tackle for the AFC in the Pro Bowl.


**Philadelphia's Tackle Duo Stays Ahead of the Curve**

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Eagles tackles Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson remain among the league’s highest-paid at their position despite recent developments.  Johnson is currently the 7th highest-paid offensive tackle in the NFL, while Mailata sits at No. 8 following Slater's record deal. 


Mailata boasts a stellar PFF grade, leading all offensive tackles in Week 17 with an 85.5 overall grade and ranking as the highest-graded offensive tackle in the NFL (95.8) according to PFF. He leads the league in run blocking grade (94.9) and is second in pass blocking (91.7).


Johnson, ranked first among NFL right tackles in PFF pass-blocking grade (88.1), pressure percentage (2.2%), and knockdown percentage (0.2%) last season, allowed zero sacks and one quarterback hit in 451 pass-blocking snaps.

##  Minkah Fitzpatrick Seeks New Deal with Dolphins Less Than a Month After Trade 

**Former Steelers Safety Eyes Contract Adjustment With Miami**

Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, traded to the team from Pittsburgh just weeks ago, is reportedly seeking a new contract.  According to Dolphins insider Omar Kelly, Fitzpatrick has switched agents to Drew Rosenhaus in hopes of securing a revised deal.

Kelly also noted that Rosenhaus represents another Dolphin, defensive tackle Zach Sieler, who is also aiming for a reworked contract in the near future. This strategic move could potentially free up much-needed cap space for Miami.  

Fitzpatrick's current contract pays him $15.5 million this season and $17.7 million in 2026. However, it remains unclear whether the Dolphins will extend their former first-round draft pick or allow him to seek opportunities elsewhere.

The Steelers received All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith in exchange for Fitzpatrick. Both players are expected to play significant roles for Pittsburgh this season.

## Rookie Ezeiruaku Burning Up Dallas Training Camp

**Rookie EDGE Dominates Early Practice Sessions**

The Dallas Cowboys are deep into training camp in Oxnard, and already a rookie is making a splash. Edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku, fresh from Boston College, has been a standout performer, turning heads with his impressive speed and agility.  

While pads haven't yet been donned, Ezeiruaku's get-off has been electric. He consistently demonstrates remarkable explosiveness as he chases down the quarterback, leaving defenders in his dust. His ability to drop back into coverage and shut down screen plays adds another dimension to his game.

The timing of his footwork for a rookie, his pass rush adjustments, and how he can react off of how a guy plays him, whether he uses an inside hand or an outside hand punch, is impressive.

"We're seeing what we loved about him on film, and just the speed and the effortlessness that it takes to rush the passer is really good. But also to his credit, he's more than just a one-trick pony that's a pass rusher. He can set the edge with that length that he has and having a really good camp.”

 **Stealing the Spotlight: A Tantalizing Prospect for Dallas**

Ezeiruaku's performance is generating buzz around the Cowboys,  who are eager to see what he brings to their already formidable defense. The prospect of him lining up opposite Micah Parsons creates an intimidating duo that could wreak havoc in 2025.

**The spotlight shines brightly on Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel,** the stars of the Washington Commanders' receiving corps. But who will step up as the team's third option in 2025?  

**Luke McCaffrey, with his impressive lineage and a year of NFL experience under his belt, looks poised for a breakout season.** His father, Ed, is a three-time Super Bowl champion and 13-year NFL veteran. Brothers Christian and Max also made their mark in the league, while Dylan played quarterback at the collegiate level.

**This offseason presented a crucial opportunity for McCaffrey.** With Olamide Zaccheaus and Dyami Brown departing, there was an opening to be filled. He dedicated himself to getting "bigger, stronger and faster," as he told Lynnell Willingham of 106.7 The Fan.

McCaffrey's commitment to improvement paid off.  When asked about his biggest development from last season, he emphasized honing his technique alongside the physical gains.

**While McCaffrey may not yet be on everyone's radar, don't be surprised if he emerges as Jayden Daniels' trusted target by midseason.**

## From USFL Champion to Bronco Star: Dondrea Tillman's Ascent

**Second-year outside linebacker looking to make even bigger impact in Denver.**

Dondrea Tillman, the 92nd player on the Broncos' 90-man offseason roster, isn't your typical NFL prospect. This rising star carved his path to the big leagues through grit and dominance, starting at Division II before conquering both the USFL and UFL.

Tillman, a 6-3, 270-pound linebacker, made waves in college by racking up an impressive 21 sacks over his final two seasons with the IUP Crimson Hawks, earning back-to-back All-PSAC West honors.  His success continued after graduation when he stole the show in The Spring League in 2021, leading to his selection in the third round of the 2022 USFL draft by the Birmingham Stallions.

Tillman's journey has been one of unparalleled achievement. He anchored the Stallions defense, securing three consecutive championships – two in the USFL and one in the UFL in spring 2024. As a defensive lineman, he recorded an impressive stat line: 54 tackles, five sacks, eight quarterback hits, 21 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, and 41 QB hurries.

His standout performances caught the eye of the Denver Broncos, who signed Tillman to a lucrative three-year deal following his UFL triumph. The Broncos' faith in Tillman proved justified as he delivered a quiet yet powerful season. In 12 games, including the playoffs, he registered 23 total tackles (13 solo, 10 assisted), five tackles for loss, and 5.0 sacks.

Now entering his second year with the team, Tillman is poised to build on his success. With opponents likely focusing on Denver's star-studded defensive line and rising star Nik Bonitto,  Tillman has a golden opportunity to wreak havoc as a disruptive force. He also has the chance to guide fourth-round pick Que Robinson, further solidifying the Broncos' formidable defense.
