Yves Bissouma will not be with Tottenham Hotspur for their UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain this Wednesday, August 13th. Manager Thomas Frank confirmed the Malian midfielder's absence is due to repeated tardiness. 

"He has been late on several occasions, and this time, it was one too many," Frank said at a press conference. "As a coach, you need to show your players plenty of love, but you also need to set standards and enforce consequences."

The Zambian Football Federation was penalized $5,000 for failing to adhere to media protocol before their match against DR Congo. Head coach's absence from the mandatory pre-match press conference triggered the fine, payable within 60 days.

The Kenyan federation received a much larger $50,000 fine for numerous security lapses during the match against Morocco. CAF issued a stern warning, stating that any repeat offenses could lead to the relocation of future matches.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation was fined $5,000 for the actions of certain players during the same match against Kenya. Half of this amount is suspended until the end of CHAN 2024, contingent upon no further violations occurring.

Alfred Gomis' promising start to life at Palermo has been dealt a major blow. The Senegalese goalkeeper fractured his right radius during a friendly match against Manchester City, forcing him to miss the beginning of the Serie B season. 

The injury occurred in the final pre-season game for the Sicilian club, who were defeated 3-0 by the English Premier League giants. Palermo confirmed Gomis' diagnosis in a statement on X: "Following an injury sustained during the match against Manchester City, Alfred Gomis underwent tests which revealed a fracture of the right arm’s radius. The player has already begun his rehabilitation."

The African Nations Championship (CHAN) roars on this Wednesday, August 13, in a three-way host spectacle featuring Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The tournament, running through August 30, serves as a crucial warm-up for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by these same nations.

Group B takes center stage today with two intriguing matchups. At 14:00 GMT, Madagascar will face off against the Central African Republic, followed by Mauritania's clash against Burkina Faso at 17:00 GMT. 

Mauritania has tasted mixed fortunes so far, drawing with Madagascar (0-0), falling to Tanzania (0-1), and securing a win over the Central African Republic (1-0). Tshegofatso Mabasa (28) has turned down a lucrative offer from Moroccan club Maghreb de Fès, choosing instead to remain with his current team, Orlando Pirates. The South African forward was reportedly presented with a contract worth $25,000 per month over three years, with the option to move to Saudi or Qatari clubs after two years.  

Spanish coach Pablo Franco Martín made a concerted effort to convince Mabasa, and negotiations had reportedly reached an advanced stage.
