Manchester United closely monitoring Upamecano
United Eyes Bayern Defender in Defensive Reinforcements
Manchester United is turning its attention to defense after bolstering its attack this summer. The Red Devils have reportedly made Bayern Munich's Dayot Upamecano a top transfer target.
Contract Talks Stall
With his current deal at Bayern set to expire in June 2026, the 26-year-old French center-back has emerged as a potential move for United, according to journalist Christian Falk (Bild). Despite Bayern's efforts to extend Upamecano's contract, negotiations remain unresolved.
"I am very happy here," Upamecano said. "There are talks with Max (Eberl), Christoph (Freund), and my agent. We’ll see what happens.”
United Seeks Defensive Stability
Following the acquisitions of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko to strengthen their attacking options, Manchester United is now prioritizing defensive reinforcements.
PSG Also In The Mix
The race for Upamecano's signature could be a three-way contest. According to Kicker, Paris Saint-Germain is also monitoring the situation closely.
Since joining Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2021, Upamecano has made 152 appearances for the Bavarian giants, scoring five goals and providing ten assists.
