Morocco adds jobs in 2024, but still lags behind pre-COVID employment levels

Morocco's Job Market Rebounds, But Pandemic Scars Remain

Economy Adds 82,000 Jobs in 2024, Non-Agricultural Sectors Lead Growth

Bank Al-Maghrib's annual report reveals that Morocco added 82,000 jobs in 2024. While this marks positive growth, the country continues to grapple with pre-pandemic employment levels.

The non-agricultural sector experienced a surge, generating a net gain of 219,000 jobs. Conversely, agriculture faced significant losses, shedding 137,000 positions last year.

This trend highlights the ongoing economic restructuring in Morocco, with sectors beyond traditional agriculture leading job creation. However, reaching pre-pandemic employment figures remains a key challenge for the nation's recovery.
