Morocco's Budget Gap Widens to Nearly $5 Billion

Deficit Soars as Spending Outpaces Revenue

The Moroccan government faced a budget deficit of MAD 53.7 billion ($5.3 billion) by the end of July 2025, according to figures released by the General Treasury of the Kingdom (TGR). This represents a sharp increase from the MAD 35.3 billion deficit recorded in July 2024.

“A negative balance of MAD 4.8 billion was generated by the Treasury’s special accounts,” the TGR reported.
