Bank Al-Maghrib's annual report reveals that Morocco added 82,000 jobs in 2024. While this marks positive growth, the country continues to grapple with pre-pandemic employment levels.

The non-agricultural sector experienced a surge, generating a net gain of 219,000 jobs. Conversely, agriculture faced significant losses, shedding 137,000 positions last year.  


This trend highlights the ongoing economic restructuring in Morocco, with sectors beyond traditional agriculture leading job creation. However, reaching pre-pandemic employment figures remains a key challenge for the nation's recovery.

##  Bounced Cheques Plummet in Morocco: Amnesty Program Drives Settlement Surge

**Casablanca** – Bank Al-Maghrib reports a significant drop in cheque payment incidents during 2024, signaling a positive shift in financial stability. The Central Cheque Payment Incident Registry recorded 487,613 cases, representing a 4.7 percent decline compared to the previous year. 

**Value of Incidents Down Sharply**

The total value of these incidents also fell to 16.1 billion dirhams, a 4 percent decrease from the previous year.  This downward trend is attributed in part to an amnesty program that encouraged individuals and businesses to settle outstanding cheque payments.

According to Bank Al-Maghrib's 2024 annual report, the number of settlements surged [...]. This indicates a positive response to the amnesty initiative, leading to improved financial health within the Moroccan economy.
