Wolfsburg interested in Sunderland full-back

Wolfsburg Eyes Sunderland Star as Transfer Battle Heats Up

German club VfL Wolfsburg is reportedly interested in signing Sunderland full-back Trai Hume, sparking a potential transfer tug-of-war.

Conflicting Reports on Offer

GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs claimed on Monday that Wolfsburg submitted an offer of around €11.5 million for the 23-year-old Northern Ireland international last week. However, Sky Sports UK reporter Keith Downie offers a different perspective. He states that no formal offer has been made by Wolfsburg, who are reportedly willing to pay approximately €8.7 million.

Sunderland Holds Firm on Valuation

Downie adds that Sunderland is uninterested in selling Hume and aims to secure his future with a new contract. The club believes the player's market value surpasses Wolfsburg's current valuation and would demand significantly more should negotiations begin.

Hume had a stellar season for Sunderland, helping them secure promotion back to the Premier League after an eight-year absence. He contributed three goals and six assists in 47 Championship matches.

At the international level, Hume participated in eight qualifying matches for Northern Ireland's 2024 UEFA European Championship campaign without scoring or providing assists.
