Transfer market: Thomas Partey to Villarreal, it's a done deal!
Partey Sets Sail for Spain: Ghanaian Midfielder Joins Villarreal
Veteran midfielder returns to La Liga after Arsenal stint.
Thomas Partey is leaving the Premier League behind and returning to familiar territory in Spain. After spending three seasons with Arsenal, the Ghanaian midfielder has agreed to a two-year deal with Villarreal, according to multiple sources.
Partey's journey with Arsenal began in 2022 when he transferred from Atlético de Madrid. He quickly established himself as a key player under manager Mikel Arteta, contributing significantly with 167 matches, 9 goals, and 7 assists. Despite showcasing his talent and becoming an integral part of the Gunners' midfield, injuries hampered Partey's progress in recent times. With his contract expiring this summer, negotiations for an extension fell through, marking the end of his chapter in North London.
Seeking new challenges, Partey is returning to a league he knows well. The 32-year-old has reportedly already undergone a medical and could potentially make his debut for Villarreal against Arsenal in a friendly match at the Emirates Stadium on August 6th.
