Official: Roma loan Abdulhamid to Lens with option to buy
Saudi Star Joins French Club Lens on Loan
Abdulhamid Seeks More Playing Time After Roma Stint
Saud Abdulhamid, the 26-year-old Saudi right-back, has officially joined RC Lens on loan with an option to buy for a reported €2-3 million.
The move comes after Abdulhamid struggled to secure regular playing time at AS Roma following his transfer from Al-Hilal last year for €2.5 million. In his lone season with the Italian club, he made just eight competitive appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
Lens unveiled Abdulhamid in a unique way, presenting him in a video inspired by The Simpsons.
"Saud Abdulhamid is Lensois," the club tweeted, alongside the video showcasing his arrival.
While Roma had been in advanced talks to send Abdulhamid to Toulouse FC, those discussions fell through due to squad limitations regarding non-EU player slots.
This transfer marks Abdulhamid's departure from Italy where he became the first ever Saudi Arabian player to feature in Serie A.
