Strasbourg Names Young Striker Emanuel Emegha as Captain
Dutch Forward Takes Over Reins After Departures of Diarra and Santos
RC Strasbourg Alsace has appointed 22-year-old striker Emanuel Emegha as the club captain for the upcoming season. This decision follows the departures of last season's captains, Habib Diarra and Andrey Santos.
Diarra secured a record transfer fee for Strasbourg when he joined Sunderland this summer, while Santos returned to his parent club Chelsea. Emegha, who joined Strasbourg from Sturm Graz in a €13 million move in 2023, has emerged as the natural successor.
The Dutch forward boasts an impressive track record with the French club, having scored 23 goals and provided five assists in 60 appearances.
Emegha's Future Uncertain?
While Emegha takes on the captaincy role, reports suggest this may be his final season at Strasbourg. An agreement reportedly exists for him to join fellow BlueCo-owned side Chelsea next summer.
