Emerson Royal Packs His Bags: Milan Defender Joins Flamengo

Brazilian Fullback Exits San Siro After One Season, Paving Way for Wesley's Roma Move

Milan have confirmed that Brazilian defender Emerson Royal has completed a permanent transfer to Flamengo. The Italian giants announced the move in a brief statement thanking the player and wishing him well in his future endeavors.

According to reliable sources, the deal is worth €9 million, including add-ons. This comes just one year after Milan acquired Royal from Tottenham Hotspur for an initial fee of €15 million plus €2 million in potential bonuses.

From San Siro to Rio: Emerson's New Chapter Begins

Royal made 26 appearances for Milan during the 2024-25 campaign, but failed to register a goal or assist for the Rossoneri. His departure from San Siro has facilitated the transfer of Brazilian forward Wesley to Roma. Wesley arrived in the Italian capital on Sunday to undergo medical examinations and finalize his contract with the Giallorossi.

Flamengo announced that Royal has signed a contract until 2028, with an option for a further season. The club welcomed the Brazilian defender, eager to see him contribute to their squad.

Milan's Summer Preparations Continue

While Milan bid farewell to Emerson Royal, the club remains focused on their pre-season preparations. They are currently on an Asia-Pacific Tour, where they have already faced Arsenal and Liverpool in friendly matches.

Their official season kicks off on August 17th against Bari in the Coppa Italia.
