🫣 Off to a flying start: Bundesliga relegated side already in trouble

Darmstadt Delivers Devastating Blow to Relegated Bochum

Bochum's return to the second division started with a nightmare. The newly relegated side fell behind early and were unable to recover, suffering a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Darmstadt on the opening day of the season.

Isac Lidberg proved to be Darmstadt's tormentor, scoring a hat trick in the first half before adding another goal shortly after halftime. His first strike came just five minutes into the match, capitalizing on a right-wing pass from Hornby.

Lidberg unleashed a powerful shot from a tight angle, leaving Bochum goalkeeper Manuel Riemann with no chance. The Lilies doubled their lead before halftime thanks to Lidberg's second goal, silencing any hopes of a quick turnaround for VfL.

Moritz Broschinski momentarily offered hope for Bochum by equalizing the score, but it was short-lived. Lidberg continued his scoring spree, completing his hat trick and putting Darmstadt back in control. Aleksandar Vukotic sealed the victory with a header, leaving Bochum to contemplate their disastrous start to the new season.
