The Moroccan Consumer Rights Defense League has issued a statement calling on authorities to launch a formal investigation into the price surge. They allege that dominant players within the industry are artificially inflating costs and urge the government to open the market to imports to increase competition and drive down prices for consumers.

"We call on the competent authorities to take immediate action to investigate this situation and bring transparency to the egg market," a spokesperson for the League said. "Consumers deserve affordable access to essential food items like eggs, and we cannot allow large producers to exploit their market position."

The group's demands come as households across Morocco grapple with the rising cost of living. Many are finding it increasingly difficult to afford basic necessities, and the sharp increase in egg prices has added another layer of financial strain for families already struggling to make ends meet.
