Milan Close in on De Winter as Thiaw Heads to Newcastle
€40 Million Deal Secures Defender's Move to Premier League
Milan are finalizing documents for Koni De Winter's transfer from Genoa, following the completion of a €40 million deal that will see Malick Thiaw join Newcastle.
The agreement with Genoa, as reported on Sunday evening, includes a €20 million fixed fee and an additional €5 million in add-ons, totaling €25 million for De Winter. The Belgian defender is expected to fill the void left by Thiaw, who will be making the move to the Premier League.
Medical Scheduled for Tuesday
Sky Sport Italia reports that Milan are currently finalizing the necessary paperwork for De Winter's transfer. The 23-year-old is expected to travel to Milan on Tuesday (August 12) for a medical examination, followed by his contract signing and official announcement.
This move marks the sixth new addition to Milan’s squad during this impressive transfer window, despite the club not participating in European competitions this season. De Winter joins Luka Modric, Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci, Pervis Estupinan, and Pietro Terracciano as new arrivals at San Siro.
