With only one year remaining on his contract, a sale seemed inevitable. Despite limited playing time last season, the midfielder's potential value likely peaked a year ago.

West Ham's Double-Deal Stumbles

Meanwhile, a separate deal for Harvey Elliott also appears to have stalled. According to Dominic King, West Ham had expressed interest in acquiring both Morton and Elliott as part of a double deal. The Hammers reportedly indicated they would commit to both transfers, with Elliott valued at around £40m by Liverpool.

This potential deal, however, appears to have fallen apart along with the Morton transfer. It remains unclear whether West Ham will still pursue Elliott individually.
