Orange Alert Issued as Heatwave, Storms Combine Threat
A potent mix of scorching heat and severe weather is set to grip several Moroccan provinces from Thursday to Sunday. The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) issued an orange-level alert, warning of potential hazards.
Temperatures are forecast to soar in Tata, Taroudant, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Oued Ed-Dahab, Laayoune, Dakhla, and Adrar provinces, reaching a blistering 44 - 47°C between Thursday and Sunday.
Dangerous Conditions on the Horizon
Adding to the heatwave's severity, the DGM predicts stormy showers accompanied by hailstorms and powerful substorm wind gusts. These conditions could pose risks to life and property.
