Dolphins LBs Jordyn Brooks, Tyrel Dodson call practice fight "brotherly love"

Dolphins Duo Trades Blows During Joint Practice

Joint practices between NFL teams are often a breeding ground for heated moments, but rarely do those moments involve teammates fighting each other. That's exactly what happened during Friday’s session between the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears.

A "Brotherly Squabble"

Linebackers Jordyn Brooks and Tyrel Dodson got into a scuffle after a running play by the Bears. Former Dolphin Terron Armstead, speaking on a podcast, claimed Brooks was upset with Dodson for not finishing a tackle.

Both players downplayed the incident, calling it a "family squabble."

“Brothers fight all the time. That’s all that was,” Brooks said, via Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald. “Brotherly love.”

Accountability and Moving Forward

Head coach Mike McDaniel addressed the situation with reporters, stating both players apologized to the team.

“They knew it wasn’t to our standard and what we’re about,” McDaniel said. “They were accountable [to] their teammates. So overall, I think it was family business, that families go through and I think we’re stronger because of it but that’s only because of the type of men that and and the accountability.”

While the incident may be behind them now, the Dolphins will undoubtedly be hoping to see this aggression directed at opposing players for the remainder of the season.
