## Trump-Putin Summit Sparks Fears of Ukraine Ceding Territory

**European leaders demand increased pressure on Russia as a high-stakes meeting between former President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin looms.**

Leaders across Europe are growing increasingly concerned about the potential outcome of a summit scheduled for this Friday in Alaska.  Trump and Putin will meet to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, but European officials fear any agreement could force Kyiv to relinquish significant territory to Moscow. 

"We need more pressure on Russia," said one unnamed EU official. "Any deal that involves territorial concessions to Russia would be unacceptable."


The summit has already drawn criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his advisors, who have expressed skepticism about Trump's ability to broker a fair peace agreement.

## Putin's Two-Step Peace Plan for Ukraine

**Proposal Includes Ukrainian Withdrawal, Recognition of Russian Sovereignty**

Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined a two-stage peace initiative aimed at ending the war in Ukraine during a meeting with U.S. special envoy Steve Whitcoff in Moscow.  The plan calls for Ukrainian forces to withdraw from the entire Donetsk region and international recognition of Russian sovereignty over Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea.

## Zelensky Demands 'Regime Change' After Deadly Kyiv Strikes

**Seven Killed, Including Child, in Overnight Drone and Missile Attack**

KYIV – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for "regime change" in Russia Thursday following a devastating overnight attack on Kyiv that left seven people dead, including a six-year-old boy. The strikes reduced part of a nine-story apartment building in the city's western suburbs to rubble and wounded dozens more. 

“[Quote about the attacks],” Zelensky said, urging his allies to take decisive action against the Russian government.


The attack came as tensions between Ukraine and Russia remain high following Russia’s invasion in February 2022.
