European leaders urge more 'pressure' on Russia ahead of Trump-Putin summit

Trump-Putin Summit Sparks Fears of Ukraine Ceding Territory

European leaders demand increased pressure on Russia as a high-stakes meeting between former President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin looms.

Leaders across Europe are growing increasingly concerned about the potential outcome of a summit scheduled for this Friday in Alaska. Trump and Putin will meet to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, but European officials fear any agreement could force Kyiv to relinquish significant territory to Moscow.

"We need more pressure on Russia," said one unnamed EU official. "Any deal that involves territorial concessions to Russia would be unacceptable."

The summit has already drawn criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his advisors, who have expressed skepticism about Trump's ability to broker a fair peace agreement.
