The highlights of Day Four of Cincinnati Bengals training camp

Bengals Rookie Stewart Hits the Field, McPherson Misses First Kick of Camp

Cincinnati's Fourth Training Session Focuses on Attendance and New Additions

The Cincinnati Bengals kicked off their fourth training camp session with a focus on both attendance and new faces. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly rookie first-round draft pick Shemar Stewart making his highly anticipated debut after resolving his contract dispute.

Stewart Arrives, But Needs to Catch Up

Stewart, clad in cleats and helmet for the first time, drew significant attention throughout the session. While he appeared a step behind at times, understandable given his delayed start, head coach Zac Taylor expressed confidence in his ability to catch up before the regular season opener on September 7th. "We got him some reps. He probably got over 10 reps in there," Taylor stated. "It's just good to get out here, Day One (for him)."

Stewart himself echoed this sentiment, emphasizing his commitment to training: “I’m here to work. Fully locked in. No distractions.” He also received a traditional rookie welcome - a three-player takedown on his first rep in 11-on-11 with the first-team defense.

McPherson's Perfect Streak Ends

Kicker Evan McPherson, who had been perfect throughout training camp leading up to Sunday, finally missed a field goal attempt from approximately 45 yards out. This minor setback didn’t faze him, however, as he bounced back by successfully drilling several kicks from farther distances, including a notable 52-yarder.

Pads Go On Monday

The Bengals will begin their first padded practice on Monday, marking the official start of full-contact training camp drills. Fans eagerly anticipate seeing how this new dynamic impacts the team's performance.
