Hundred Migrants Attempt Daring Sea Crossing to Ceuta

Dense fog hinders rescue efforts as hundreds risk lives for passage.

More than 100 migrants, including children, attempted to swim from Morocco to Ceuta on Saturday night in one of the most intense border incidents this summer. The mass crossing started in Fnideq and involved a large number of individuals seeking passage to Spain's North African enclave.

“Civil Guard units and Moroccan security forces operated at full capacity,” local reports said, “hampered by dense fog that complicated both interceptions and rescues.”
