New Gaza aid flotilla to depart Spain, Tunisia amid tight Israeli blockade

Thunberg Joins Massive Flotilla Targeting Gaza Blockade

Ships Set to Depart from Mediterranean Ports in August.

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg will join a new flotilla aiming to "break the illegal Israeli blockade" of Gaza, organizers announced Sunday. The first vessels are set to depart Spain on August 31st, with dozens of ships participating in what they claim is the largest attempt yet to breach the blockade.

Additional ships will leave from Tunisia. The flotilla's goal is to deliver aid and supplies to Gaza, which has been under a strict Israeli blockade since 2007.

Organizers say the blockade amounts to a violation of international law and has severely impacted the lives of Palestinians in Gaza.
