Morocco's Interior Ministry is cracking down on alleged financial irregularities within local associations. Central inspection teams will be deployed across six regions, starting in the Fez-Meknes region, to investigate claims that billions of dirhams in public funding were misused.
The inspections are being launched following reports from provincial "internal affairs" departments detailing serious management and financial irregularities. "Well-informed sources" told us these allegations suggest the funds may have been diverted for electoral purposes.
