Algiers - Lebanese President Joseph Aoun commended Morocco's significant diplomatic contribution to ending Lebanon's long and brutal civil war during a joint press conference with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Aoun, on an official visit to Algiers, specifically highlighted Morocco's pivotal role in facilitating the 1989 Taif Agreement, which effectively brought the conflict to a close after 15 years.

"Morocco played a historical role in helping unify Lebanese factions during this difficult period," Aoun stated.
