Chinese Malware Infecting Thousands of Android Devices
Hackers Targeting Moroccan Users Most Heavily on the Continent
A new malware called PlayPraetor, developed by a Chinese-speaking hacker group, has infected over 11,000 Android devices worldwide in just three months. Cybersecurity firm Cleafy first revealed this alarming statistic in a recent report.
Morocco is emerging as the primary target for these attacks in Africa, accounting for approximately 22% of all cyberattacks on the continent. “The rise of PlayPraetor underlines the growing sophistication and reach of Chinese threat actors,” Cleafy researchers warned.
This malware, designed to be stealthy and difficult to detect, gains access to sensitive user data and can even control infected devices remotely.
