Rabat, Morocco – Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, welcomed Gabriela Rodríguez de Bukele, the First Lady of El Salvador, to the Foundation's headquarters in Rabat on Monday. The visit aimed to foster collaborative efforts and share expertise on initiatives promoting the inclusion of deaf children.

During her tour, the First Lady of El Salvador witnessed firsthand the comprehensive model adopted by the Lalla Asmaa Foundation.  The institution seamlessly integrates cutting-edge medical care, rehabilitation services, specialized education, psychosocial support, and family training programs.

Highlights of the visit included exploring the Foundation's summer camp, which offers a range of enriching activities like pottery, diorama creation, sculpting clay, aerobics classes, English and American Sign Language (ASL) lessons, remedial classrooms, high-tech workshops, and speech therapy sessions. 

Princess Lalla Asmaa and Mrs. Rodríguez de Bukele were introduced to innovative technological advancements aiding the learning process. These included a robot designed to facilitate sign language acquisition and an AI-powered speech therapy application. This platform assists speech therapists in assessing, monitoring, and rehabilitating children through interactive tools. It also supports families with games and exercises tailored for at-home use, fostering the development of children's language, listening, and communication skills based on scientific and clinical data.

**International Collaboration and Humanitarian Impact:**


The Lalla Asmaa Foundation's humanitarian approach extends beyond its borders.  Twenty deaf children from El Salvador will soon benefit from Moroccan expertise in hearing impairment care through an initiative spearheaded by the Foundation. This adds to the 800 Moroccan children and 240 children from 21 countries across Africa and the Middle East who have received surgeries and support from the Foundation since the launch of its NASMAA program in 2002.


The Foundation has further solidified its international reach through a strategic partnership with Gallaudet University in Washington, a global leader in higher education for deaf people. This collaboration focuses on developing new research, training, and exchange programs.

**Empowering Future Generations:**


Mrs. Rodríguez de Bukele also learned about the Foundation's strategic partnerships, including three landmark agreements signed last June. These agreements aim to strengthen digital inclusion, professional integration, and scientific cooperation, reflecting the Lalla Asmaa Foundation's commitment to supporting young people beyond schooling by providing them with access to future digital skills, facilitating their professional integration, and fostering academic and scientific collaboration.



The visit concluded with talks between HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa and the First Lady of El Salvador at the Foundation's headquarters. They were accompanied by prominent Moroccan officials, including members of the Foundation's Board of Directors and representatives from both countries.

Morocco is accelerating its transition to a greener economy, but a new report warns that the nation is overlooking a vital asset: its vibrant civil society. While boasting over 188,000 associations – one of the highest rates in the region – only a small percentage actively engage in environmental issues, and even those often lack the necessary support and visibility.

Backed by the EU and Sweden, the report by the Moroccan Institute for Policy Analysis (MIPA) reveals how numerous grassroots organizations are tackling crucial challenges such as water access, food security, and energy transition. However, these groups frequently face obstacles: fragmentation, limited funding, and a lack of consultation in national climate policy decisions.

**Frustration Mounts Across Regions**

MIPA’s research involved consultations with local groups in Agadir, Oujda, and Tangier, uncovering widespread frustration. 

* **Agadir:** Participants advocated for stronger energy laws and incentives for renewable energy adoption.
* **Oujda:** Activists stressed the importance of incorporating social justice into the green transition.
* **Tangier:** Concerns centered on a lack of coordination between institutions and the exclusion of local governments from environmental planning processes.

Water security emerged as a paramount concern across all regions, with droughts, water waste, and unequal access frequently cited as problems. Proposed solutions included wastewater recycling, drought-resistant seeds, and innovative farming techniques.

The report identifies several key barriers to civil society’s effective participation: 

* An outdated 1958 law governing associations that hinders their operation.
* A dearth of public funding for environmental initiatives.
* Complex bureaucratic procedures (red tape).
* Limited access to essential environmental data.

**Recommendations for Inclusive Climate Action:**

To truly achieve its green ambitions, Morocco must empower its civil society. The report recommends:

* Ensuring genuine participation of local groups in decision-making processes. 
* Providing adequate training and financial resources to support their work.

He argues that while major powers like the U.S., which withdrew from the Paris Agreement, continue to avoid responsibility, the ICJ ruling provides a legal basis for demanding compensation and pushing them to fulfill climate funding promises.

Al Issat urges Morocco to take immediate action based on this ruling, emphasizing its position as one of the countries most exposed to climate change. He points out that Morocco already incurs significant financial strain managing water resources and combating drought through projects like desalination. 

Mustapha Bramel, head of the Ecological Lighthouses Association, emphasizes that the ICJ opinion clarifies responsibility for pollution and the burden it places on developing nations and island communities facing severe climate impacts.

** Rabat:** Morocco is setting its sights on a major aviation expansion, aiming to more than double its airport passenger capacity to a staggering 80 million by 2030. This ambitious goal was unveiled Thursday with the signing of a new investment agreement between the government and the National Airports Office (ONDA) in Rabat.

 Transport and logistics minister Abdessamad Kayouh, speaking after the ceremony chaired by prime minister Aziz Akhannouch, confirmed that this protocol falls under the royal "Airports 2030" vision. The plan encompasses the construction of a brand new international airport in Casablanca, alongside significant expansions to seven other airports located in cities hosting matches for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Crespo specifically demands stricter import quotas, greater transparency regarding product origins, and tighter price controls. She further warns that Moroccan tomato imports could be costing the EU up to €70 million in lost taxes due to potential tax evasion, calling for financial compensation if this is confirmed.

Conversely, Spanish tomato production has fallen by 31%, and exports to the EU have dropped by a quarter during this period.
