Washington D.C. -  US President Donald Trump weighed in on the decision by French President Emmanuel Macron to formally recognize the State of Palestine, calling it "pointless." 

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said, “He’s a very good guy, I like him, but that statement doesn’t carry weight.” His comments followed Macron's announcement Thursday recognizing the Palestinian state.
