The Pittsburgh Steelers are making waves this offseason, aiming to build a potent offense around newly acquired quarterback Aaron Rodgers. While the team has already landed DK Metcalf and sent George Pickens to Dallas, whispers suggest another familiar face could be joining Rodgers in Pittsburgh.

A potential trade has emerged, connecting Romeo Doubs with his former Packers teammate Rodgers in a reunion that could benefit both sides. The proposed deal would see the Steelers send a 2026 third-round pick to Green Bay for Doubs.

The move addresses a crucial need for Pittsburgh.  "The Steelers, following the trade of George Pickens, have a glaring need for another wide receiver opposite DK Metcalf," notes PFSN. "Doubs’ 600-plus receiving yards in each of the last two seasons outpace current Pittsburgh Steelers No. 2 options like Robert Woods and Calvin Austin III."

Green Bay's Reasoning: A Logjam at Wide Receiver

According to PFSN, Doubs' position with the Packers is becoming increasingly precarious. "The Green Bay Packers have a notably crowded wide receiver room, and they spent early picks on Matthew Golden and Savion Williams in the 2025 NFL Draft. Even after Christian Watson’s ACL injury, Green Bay’s investment in new talent, combined with the development of Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, puts Romeo Doubs’ roster spot in jeopardy as he enters the final year of his rookie contract."


Doubs' Track Record: A Proven Performer

Despite facing stiff competition in Green Bay, Doubs has consistently demonstrated his offensive capabilities. "He averaged 13.1 yards per catch with a 63.9% catch rate last year. The 25-year-old has recorded 46 receptions for 601 yards and four touchdowns in just 13 games in 2024, after notching 59 catches for 674 yards and eight touchdowns the previous season."

This potential trade hinges on both teams agreeing to terms. If successful, it would be a significant move that strengthens the Steelers' receiving corps while potentially providing Doubs with an opportunity to shine alongside Rodgers in Pittsburgh.
