Taitn Gray Leads Iowa High School All-State Baseball Team
Gray Tops All-State Baseball Super Team
Dallas Center-Grimes standout Taitn Gray has been named captain of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association's 2025 all-state "Super Team." The Tampa Bay Rays selected Gray in the second round of the MLB Draft. He led the Mustangs with a .479 batting average, smashing 12 home runs, seven doubles, three triples, and driving in 38 RBIs.
Joining Gray on the Super Team:
A constellation of talent from across Iowa rounds out the super team: Bo Collingwood (Pleasant Valley), Tate Slagle (Algona), Will Pierro and Will Specht (Dubuque Wahlert), Anderson Schirm and Isiah Kettler (Pella), Jax Theeler and Cal Jepsen (Sioux City East), Drake Obermueller (Iowa City High), Will Morris (Ankeny Centennial), Wrigley Matthys (Bettendorf), Drew Owen (North Polk), Braylon Bingham (Pleasantville), Jayce Schwiesow (Saint Ansgar) and Garrett Luett (Underwood).
Class Captains:
Matthys earns captain status in Class 4A, Slagle in 3A, Bingham and Luett in 2A, and Schwiesow in 1A.
Offensive Powerhouses:
- Matthys slashed .514 with three homers, 10 triples, eight doubles, and an impressive 66 runs scored. He also stole 54 bases with a .602 on-base percentage and a .779 slugging percentage.
- Slagle, committed to the University of Iowa, hit .505 with 10 homers and 15 doubles, driving in 46 runs and scoring 47 more. On the mound, he was 6-2 with 115 strikeouts and a remarkable 1.03 ERA.
- Bingham hit .459 with seven homers and 52 RBIs, scoring 58 runs while stealing 54 bases. He dominated on the mound, going 9-0 with 72 strikeouts.
Dominating Pitchers:
Luett, also committed to Iowa, led the state with a .603 batting average, collecting 21 extra-base hits and scoring 46 runs. He went undefeated at 11-0 on the mound with a staggering 128 strikeouts.
Schwiesow boasts a .448 batting average with 25 RBIs, 26 runs scored, 18 steals, and an impressive 8-1 record with 104 strikeouts.
