Firefighters are battling a raging wildfire in northwestern Spain, struggling to contain the flames that have already damaged a valuable Roman-era mining site and forced hundreds of residents from their homes.

The environment minister for the Castile and Leon region stated that high temperatures and powerful winds, reaching up to 40 kilometers per hour (25 mph), are creating "many difficulties" for firefighters trying to control the blaze.
