False Claims About Mandari's Death Debunked by Casablanca Prosecutor
Casablanca Court Denounces Fabricated Videos, Charges Perpetrator with Impersonation and Falsification
The public prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of First Instance has vehemently denied recent online videos alleging fabricated circumstances surrounding the death of Hicham Mandari. In a statement released on July 28th, the prosecutor described the claims as "entirely baseless."
The statement clarifies that the circulated recordings, attributed to a news site and purportedly revealing sensitive details about Mandari's death, were fabricated and used during a judicial inquiry.
Mandari's brother, identified as the source of these false claims, was prosecuted for impersonating a former security agent and fabricating details using prepaid SIM cards.
The videos contained several inaccuracies, including the false announcement of Mandari's mother’s death, who is still alive. The accused was tried on July 14th, 2025, and sentenced to five years in prison and fined 50,000 dirhams.
The prosecution emphasized the seriousness of these offenses, stating that such acts are criminally punishable under Moroccan law.
