Authorities in Taounate hold emergency talks with cannabis cooperatives over unpaid dues

Cannabis Cooperatives Protest Unpaid Dues, Prompting Moroccan Emergency Talks

Taounate Province - Tensions are flaring in Ghafsai, Taounate province, over unpaid dues owed to local cannabis cooperatives. This week, Moroccan authorities held emergency meetings with representatives from the cooperatives following protests outside provincial government offices earlier in the week.

Contract Disputes Fuel Unrest

The meetings addressed contract disputes between the cooperatives and a company contracted to collect and process legal cannabis crops. Farmers are demanding payment for overdue dues stemming from these contracts.

"We have been working tirelessly," stated one farmer, "and we deserve to be paid for our labor."
