##  Wood Back, Depth Key for Commodores' Defense 

Vanderbilt defensive line coach Larry Black sees a bright future for his unit thanks to returning talent and a commitment to building depth.

**Versatile Wood Ready to Roll**

The return of Zaylin Wood is a major boost for the Commodores' defense. After recovering from last season’s injury, Wood is back and ready to contribute. 

“He's our Swiss army knife,” Black said of Wood. “He can play multiple positions along the line."  Black credited the training and strength staff for aiding Wood’s recovery.


**Depth a Priority on Defensive Line**

Creating depth is crucial for the defensive line, according to Black. He wants to build three units deep so that they can rotate players effectively and maintain dominance throughout games. "We want to be able to keep fresh legs out there," he said. 

Increasing sack production is another key focus. Black emphasizes disciplined pass-rush techniques, closing space quickly, and pressuring the quarterback.  

**Young Players Stepping Up**

Black praised Linus Zunk and Yilanan Ouattara for their work ethic and maturity. He also highlighted contributions from newcomers and young players. 

With a demanding SEC schedule on the horizon, Black understands that depth will be vital to keeping his players fresh for late-season challenges.
